Post Toxic Avenger II DVD question
I've read in a couple of places that the DVD for The Toxic Avenger II is edited despite the DVD box saying it is uncut. Is this true?

Yes, the DVD of Toxic Avenger II in the complete Toxic Avenger Box Set is cut. Not sure why, I think it was a mistake. The version in the Tox Box is uncut though.

Isn't this year the 20th anniverseray for Toxie 2? How about a 2 disc collectors set, complete with the original 6 hour cut of the film, without voice overs, in a complete rough cut format. I would totally buy it in a heart beat.

A six-hour version? Wasn't it filmed with the intention to be one movie with Toxic Avenger 3, and then cut and edited the picture into two sequels?

Yes. They shot it for one movie and ended up with a 6 hour rough cut, which was enough footage for two movies. So they split it into two.

So it was just one long movie combined into one? The way I imagined it, it would have started off with the intro of Toxie 3, then fade to to the intro of Toxie 2 basicly, then all that on the inside is all part 2 and 3, then of course the ending would be the fight with Satan.

No, it was one long movie split in 2.

I honestly think they could have been made into one 2 hour movie if Lloyd cut out the poorly done effects (like the machine guns in the 1st battle of Toxie 2 with no squibs or blood), trimmed some boring dialgue, and got rid of AT LEAST two thirds of the never ending reaction shots (especially in Toxie 3).

But there was more $ to be made with 2 sequels.

I love Toxie 2 (the UNCUT version), but found 3 kinda unfunny and slow with the exception of the video store fight and the battle with Satan at the end. The whole plot of Toxie working for Apocalypse was a waste of time and not necessary, also, completely out of character for Tox.

Agreed about Toxie 3. The video store fight is amazing, the rest not as much. I enjpy Toxie 2 though.

I like 3 better than 2, but that's not saying much. At least 3 had a plot.

I don't think that Troma would ever consider releasing the 6 hour version of the film, even if they would find the original print, they probably wouldn't even remember how it would all fit together.

But I have on some occasions when watching 2 and 3, been wondering how the movies originally fit.

But, what I would really love to see is the original 3+ hour version of Troma's War.
I'm really hoping we get that in the Tromasterpiece Collection. Seeing that they somehow uncovered the original 100 minute Combat Shock as well as the uncut Mad Dog Morgan.

Combat Shock's a totally different story. Buddy Giovinazzo already had the film completed under the title AMERICAN NIGHTMARES and was almost ready to sell it to another company when Lloyd decided to pick up the film (it was initially rejected). It even floated around as a bootleg under that title before (and after) the Troma release, since it was passed around when Buddy was looking for distribution initially.

The uncut Troma's War is probably gone for good. Remember hearing Lloyd complain about how Michael Herz threw away all the good stuff, without having the foresight of DVD extras?
